The intruder is probably the most known Steelhead fly out there. It has a large profile and very life like action in the water. However when you want to tie flies that look good and swim well in
the water you need quality materials. The originator of the Intruder – Ed Ward – looked long and hard to find the prefect material for tying these flies. He named this feather the ‘drab’. The
perfect ostrich plume with a stiff base that tapers into fine tips. You can cut the tips and hackle them, the rest of the feather can be tied in by stacking them. Alternatively you can put the
into a dubbing loop or composite loop with the use of ICE dub. If you want to tie those amazing looking Intruders, this is the material to do so.
The OPST drabs are available as barred or dotted and come in 2 per pack. Die Länge der Federn beträgt ca. 30 cm
Many of our favourite salmon, seatrout (sea run browns) flatwing and pike flies just aren’t possible to tie without OPST saddle hackles. These premium saddles have just the right combination of
suppleness and stiffness to optimise motion in the water. The feathers range from about 7cm to 20cm, with most being between 12cm and 15cm long; this is in our opinion the perfect length for
intruder fly tying.
OPST premium grade saddle hackles range in length from about 7cm to 20cm, just perfect for tying intruders,
pike or flatwing style flies.
